Community garden is ready for planting

Garden Valley -- With spring-like weather creeping in, many people want to grow a garden of their own. This can be a challenge for some because of the soil and sun issues around their homes. Or, maybe starting from scratch to build a garden is not desirable either. The Community Garden may be the answer.
There are plots for rent behind the Garden Valley Senior Center where the community garden is established. Each year there are improvements to the planting area. Jayne Carlson, founder of the community garden and a gardener herself, oversees the plots through the summer. She has a plot there herself and finds ways each year to make it easier for those wanting to do the same.
