Placerville’s Valentine Lanterns Light Up the Sky

Placerville - Boise Basin Boosters a non-profit that supports the people of Placerville and Star Ranch held its 4 annual Valentine’s Day Chinese Lantern Festival on February 11th at the Placerville Village Square. Between 20 and 25 people showed up, with a predominance of children, to look in amazement and assist in launching 50 Chinese Lanterns. Participants were asked to donate a dollar or a jar of peanut butter. It was hard to say who was having more fun the children or the adults. During the festivities Snickerdoodles and Oatmeal cookies were devoured at a great rate. When asked why we were doing this the answer was, "What else fun can you do outdoors as a family on a cold February night as a community?” A great way to meet and greet your neighbors.
